We at Cowichan Valley Dental Health and Implant Centre are true believers in proven technology. Dental lasers, for example, have proven to be very effective in providing various treatments. Dental lasers were approved by the FDA in the early 90’s for gums and 1996 for the treatment of hard tissues like teeth and bone.
Although controversial in some applications, we have elected to do only those procedures that have clinical and scientific support. We are also very selective in that some surgical applications are better served with alternative modalities. That said, Dental Lasers are not without their benefits. There is a decrease in morbidity post-surgery; a reduction in the need for anaesthetics, little bleeding following soft tissue procedures due to the cauterization effect and, finally, some of the risks of alternative electrosurgical procedures can be avoided.
The whole team at Cowichan Valley Dental is amazing, and I have never trusted a dental office more. They are professional while still being fun, and my teeth have never looked better 🙂
